Exporting

Save your genogram as an image, a PDF, or a data file you can re-open or move to another tool.

Open the export dialog

Open the editor menu (the logo, top left) and choose Export, then pick a format.

Export an image or PDF

  • PNG - a flat image for documents, slides, or messages
  • PDF - for printing or attaching to records

In the genogram editor, pick a view under View to choose which names, dates and overlays the export shows, as that view was last saved. For both formats, choose whether to include the dot-grid background and the small Genogram Pro badge. To add the legend, turn on Show legend in exports in the Genogram key first.

Export a reusable data file

To keep the data rather than just a picture:

  • .genogrampro - the native format. Keeps the whole diagram and imports back into Genogram Pro later.
  • GEDCOM - for moving family data into other genealogy software. Emotional bonds, medical conditions, and households are not part of GEDCOM, so they are left out.

To bring a file back in, see Importing & templates.
