Notes, text & images
Add context to a genogram with notes, free text labels, and images. Notes can be kept private so they never leave your own view.
Add a note
Two ways to add a note:
- Choose the Add note tool (N) from the top toolbar and click where you want it. This note is free-floating.
- Or select a person and choose Add note from their selection toolbar. This note is attached to the person and stays linked as you move them.
Type directly into the note. Drag it to reposition.
Keep a note private
Each note has an eye icon that toggles it between public and private:
- Public - part of the diagram. It appears in exports and shared links
- Private - grayed out and visible only to you in the editor. It is stripped from PNG and PDF exports and from shared views
Text labels
Use the Add text tool (T) for standalone labels like titles, dates, or headings. A label can use any of the built-in fonts, a size from 6 to 144, bold, italic, or underline, and a color from the list or any custom hex. Pick Default to return to the standard text color. Styling applies to the whole label, not to individual words.
Images
The Add image tool uploads a JPEG, PNG, or WebP onto the canvas as a floating image you can move and resize. To put a photo inside a person’s symbol instead, use the symbol image button in their properties panel, described in Adding & editing people.
